Heavy-Duty High-Silica Construction
The DVM Fire Limitation Blanket is manufactured from a 640 g/m² high-silica fiberglass base fabric with a silicone coating applied to both sides.
The double-sided silicone coating increases the total finished material weight to approximately 1100 g/m², resulting in a robust 0.75 mm thick material designed for demanding high-temperature applications.
The material has a specified working temperature of up to 1200 °C and a melting point of approximately 1700 °C.
Independently Tested Material – A2-s1,d0
The material used for the DVM Fire Limitation Blanket has been independently tested by SGS using the test methods EN 13823 and EN ISO 1716 and classified in accordance with EN 13501-1:2018.
The tested material achieved the European reaction-to-fire classification:
A2-s1,d0
This classification relates to the reaction-to-fire performance of the tested material. The SGS report does not represent type approval or product certification.
Designed for Professional EV Fire Incident Management
A Fire Limitation Blanket is designed to cover a vehicle involved in a fire incident and help limit the effects of the fire on the surrounding environment.
In the case of an electric vehicle battery experiencing thermal runaway, covering the vehicle does not necessarily extinguish the battery fire. Lithium-ion battery cells can continue generating heat and gases without an external oxygen supply.
The primary function of a Fire Limitation Blanket is therefore fire limitation and incident control, helping professional responders manage the incident and reduce the risk of fire spreading to the immediate surroundings.
Typical applications include:
- Fire and rescue services
- Vehicle dealerships and workshops
- EV manufacturers and test facilities
- Fleet operators
- Vehicle distribution centres
- Parking facilities and underground car parks
- EV charging locations
- Industrial facilities
The blanket should be deployed by appropriately trained personnel as part of an established fire-safety and emergency-response procedure.
DIN SPEC 91489 – Independently Tested by SGS
The complete DVM Fire Limitation Blanket 6×8 m has been independently tested by SGS according to DIN SPEC 91489, developed specifically for fire limitation blankets intended for use with electric vehicles.
Independent testing of the complete blanket provides professional users, fire and rescue organisations, distributors and OEM partners with documented technical verification of its performance according to the applicable DIN SPEC test requirements.
The SGS DIN SPEC 91489 test report is available as part of the DVM technical documentation.
