The test programme also included controlled heptane fire testing. Heptane creates a strong liquid-fuel fire and can be used under defined test conditions to evaluate fire-blanket performance.

However, the successful controlled heptane test should not be interpreted as meaning that a conventional fire blanket is suitable for every flammable-liquid or Class B fire.
