Why are heat-alarms in some places the better than smoke-alarms?
In places where moisture, dust and dirt are commonplace, optical smoke-alarms can cause many false alarms.
Typical places where to avoid placing a smoke-alarm and placing a heat-alarm is preferred are: kitchens, garages, basements, attics and the likes.
Also in workshops where, for example, (metal) grinding and welding is carried out, the gases from these processes can cause a lot of smoke and cause false alarms.
It is better to install heat-alarms instead of smoke-alarms in these places.
Heat-alarms
A heat-alarm generates an alarm when it detects high temperatures and fast rising temperatures.
Generally, in case of a fire, heat-alarms generate an alarm much later than a smoke-alarm.
Please note that a heat-alarm does not detect flames, smoke, carbon-monoxide or dangerous gases.
Heat-alarm with a fixed 10-year battery
Our heat-alarms of the DVM-HA30 Series have a fixed 3V battery that lasts 10 years.
No battery replacement is required during the legal lifetime of your heat-alarm.
After that period, you must replace the heat-alarm with a new one.
The only maintenance remaining is to clean the heat-alarm once a month with a vacuum cleaner to keep the slots, that allow heat to enter the detection chamber, open.
Heat-alarm with an alarm-pause-button
Our advanced heat-alarms of the DVM-HA30 Series are equipped with an Alarm-pause-button.
If the heat-alarm goes off it will produce a nerving sound of over 84 dB (decibels) and the LED flashes.
To allow you to stay calm and investigate the source of the alarm, it is possible to temporarily switch-off the heat-alarm-sound for some 8 minutes.
If you have not found the source of the heat or of the false alarm after that period, the alarm-sound will come back.
In that case we advise you to leave the premises and call the fire brigade from outside your house.
Do NOT get back into the house, e.g. to retrieve belongings, until the fire brigade allows you to get back-in.
Easy installation of a heat-alarm (no drilling required)
Our heat-alarms are easy to install, especially if you choose the version with a Magnetic Mounting Plate:
drilling and screwing is no longer necessary.
You just stick one plate to the ceiling and the other plate to the heat-alarm.
The magnets in one plate allow you to just click the heat-alarm to the ceiling now.
