Class A fire: Wood, paper and other "ordinary combustibles"
Class B fire: Flammable liquids and gases, except grease and cooking oil
Class C fire: Fires aggravated or sustained by live electrical equipment

This fire extinguisher has a classification of 13A 70B C, where the numbers indicate the amount of extinguishing power indicated in 5 liters of water equivalent.
So, 13A means that the extinguishing power for a class A fire is equal to 13 liters of water.

NB Dry powder from a powder extinguisher consists of salts and will leave a residue that is difficult to remove.
